Demonstrating its commitment to social unity and public welfare, INTERNATIONAL MEDIA GUILD (IMG) organised a multi-dimensional socio-cultural welfare programme at Jibanananda Sabhaghar, Nandan Campus, Kolkata. Guided by its core philosophy, “Connecting All,” the event brought together elements of social service, health awareness, literature and cultural expression under one platform.
A major highlight of the evening was the presentation of the prestigious UTKARSHA SAMMAN, honouring individuals who have made notable contributions in diverse fields including public life, literature, health and culture. The awards were presented under the leadership of IMG Founder-Chairperson Asish Basak to former MLA Adv. Dr. Sourav Chakraborty, writers Banani Sikdar, Dr. S. Yasmin, Prof. Dr. Pratapranjan Hazra, healer Dr. Suresh Agarwal, and acclaimed reciter Sikha Hazra.
Health awareness was a key focus of the programme. Eminent cardiologist Dr. Navanil Biswas addressed the gathering on preventive heart care, stressing the importance of disciplined lifestyle habits, balanced nutrition, regular physical exercise and periodic medical check-ups for maintaining overall well-being. The session was coordinated by Indrani Ghosh, Marketing Manager of Techno India DAMA Hospital, Kolkata.
The event also served as a platform to announce upcoming initiatives. The poster of “TORI,” an upcoming socio-cultural welfare programme scheduled for 21 February at Hazra Sujata Sadan, was unveiled jointly by Saraswati Bhandar and URJAA, indicating continued collaboration for community outreach.
Adding a literary dimension to the evening, the best-selling book “Story of My Life – Part 1” by Chennai-based philanthropist Dr. Barbara Thyab Ali was re-launched in the presence of distinguished guests.
The programme was attended by prominent members of the Rotary Club of Kasba and Lions Club of Kolkata Magnates, including Prof. Dr. Parthasarathi Chakraborty, Sovan Chakraborty, Prof. Dr. Seema Singh, Mahesh Burman, Adv. Basu Deo Agarwal, Dr. Vivekananda Chakraborty, poets Prajna Parijat and Sanchita Das, and former DCP Manoj Das.
Cultural recitations by talented performers enriched the evening and reflected IMG’s commitment to nurturing artistic talent alongside social responsibility.
